Animated Graphic Notation
Below is a collection of my work in animated notation. These works were the basis for the system of notation now being use to revolutionise music education in Ireland through dabbeldoo.
My work in animated notation began in 2008 where I attempted to create a system of notation that would allow musicians of all levels of experience and backgrounds to come together, perform and create something new. The notation had to be accessible, practical and intuitive.
Most of the performances in the videos below took place without rehearsal or any prior arrangement other than musicians selecting a colour or a shape to follow.
The pieces range from individual interpretations to a full orchestra performing an animated graphic score. Thanks to everyone who took part and joined in the music making making.
